Now you can help us to translate Flashnote to new language


How to translate Flashnote with PoEdit

1. Create "xx" (pl for Polish, it - for italian etc) folder in the "/Flashnote/Languages" folder.
2. Install and run PoEdit (you can download it from http://www.poedit.net/download.php)
3. Go to the menu File->New catalog from POT file.
4. Choose path to the messages.pot file (../languages/messages.pot)
5. In the 'Project name and version' field enter any name. "You-Language", maybe, it does not matter. Press OK.
6. Enter 'messages.po' into the File name field and save it to your 'xx' folder
7. Now you see English strings that you should translate. Click on the English string, and you'll see two fields on the bottom of the window. In the upper field there is English variant of the string, and you should write your translation to the bottom field.
8. Save the catalog (File->Save)
9. You can Restart Flashnote in order to see changes, some strings won't be translated - it's normal.
10. Send us your 'xx' folder.

Note: An error may occure when you try to save the file. If the error message "Poedit-Id-Version still has initial default value" appears, go to the Catalog->Settings and enter any name into the "Project name and version" field.

I have finished the Arabic translation of Flashnote. However, when I tried to test the translation I copied the files to the directory and chose Arabic. Then when I tried to run Flashnote I got the following message.

' Couldn't find or load the 'lib' catalog for locale 'Arabic_Saudi_Arabia.1256'.

Problem with 'lib' catalog is my mistake, I will fix it in new version of Flashnote. So, if you think translation is done, please, send me files - I'll update Flashnote installer soon.

I started to prepare Czech translation, but when saving from PoEdit, I get error:



I checked my translation again, if there is not discrepancy in the number of rows of original and translated text, but was not able to find anything that could cause this error.

My translation of course does not work, I even do not have files "lib.mo" and "lib.po" in created CZ directory.

Any hep?

I know this error, but don't know yet how to fix it. But in any case, it's not critical just ignore it.


it's strange, lib.* I will add from other source, but you should see 98% strings in interface translated and without this files. Send me your work, I'll try to check where is problem.

With Poedit i want to change translation "Switch Database" to german "Datenbank wechseln". But changes have no effect. In the messages.po created from messages.pot you use the Message "Switch to other database" but translation has also no effect. Wy it is not possible to translation this message?

If you want to update your translation you should open messages.po file than hit Catalog -> Update From POT file in
main menu and open messages.pot file and /Language folder. After that you can translate new strings.

"Switch Database" used in menu and "Switch to other database" in options.
