Post subject: Problem in Using the common database with many people?
PostPosted: Thu Feb 09, 2006 4:54 pm
We are in the process of deploying Flashpaste in a group of 9 people. We set their common databases to the same single file in a netwrok shared drive. Their local database is pointing to their individual local machine.

Recently, we were shocked to find that all the contents of the common database were gone completely gone and nobody could access the items that were setup for them. Flashpaste main window was blanks and showed no items.

Can you tell us if there is a problem in using a single file as a common database for multiple people? I am wondering why all the items vanished?

I have never got a report about it earlier, but I think there are two possible ways:
1. There is a bug in Flashpaste - I'll try to check this. Please write me if this will happen again. I think that to create a backup copy is a good idea.
2. Second way is that somebody has opened Main Window of Flashpaste, deleted all items and closed it. Or maybe try to change database file and rewrite empty file to shared database. I should make something that hinder this in next version.

Please write us if you will have any supplementary information or any questions.

We have figured that we reased the contents in by mistake while switching the common database path from the default to the network location. WE now know that we have to select "no" to the warning. Thanks.
