Is it possible to enter a code/string that would tell flashpaste to insert the current date in that spot?

example:
test completed $DATE.

would actually paste
test completed 9/28/2005.

or something like that...

Thanx...

Suggestion 1:

opp, Flashpaste works exactly what you say in second times. You just double-click on item or hit on "Paste the String" button (at the right side of toolbar) and text should automatic paste to last active window. I thinks that you hit on "copy" button instead of "paste".

On Dreamweaver it does not do this on doubleclicking on the string line )item to paste).

HOWEVER, ocassionally this action has been performed. Maybe dreamweaver has the problem to have multiple windows in one large screen window and flashpaste gets confused to which window to paste.

I am 100% that I clicked on paste button regards Action mode 1 (the longer way)

Can you test flashpaste on dreamweaver please?

Suggestion 1:

It would be much faster if instead of

1) Selecting text to paste in flashpaste hotbox,
2) click on the paste icon,
3) Then click on the program you were using to paste text,
4) ctrl+V to paste the string

[4 steps]

1) Double click on the text in flashpaste
2) Automatically, the text goes at the cursor position of the programm used (or last active window)

[1 step !!]

SUGGESTION 2:

B It would be much faster if when highlighting a string to copy in flashpaste, you press another user defined hotkey and this will casue the selected text to automatically go into a 'new clip' special dir of flashpaste (eg quickclips) without the need of pressing the copy, etc.

I'll think about this.

SUGGESTION 3:

In coding (eg html) it is often required the copying of filenames. I would like to see a feature that when you select a list of files in a directory, you can automatically copy the filenames (as text) say by clicking rightmouse button a select "Put in flashpaste". As a result a directory with the name of the DIR will be formed in flashpaste with all the filename text as clips in assored A-Z order(optionsable in settings).

immagine you have hundred filenames and you have to copy them one by one

Good Idea, I'll add something similar features in future.

I look forward for your reply

With these implimented, your paste-copy program will beat all the rest in the market.

NB please delete a similar post that by mistake I palced as a new topic in the flashpaste main forum. It should be here. sorry]

  Post subject:  suggestions: snippets  Reply with quote
Dear colleague,
Your Program is a very nice one. Contrary to some good text editors, where it is possible to make macroses, snippets, autocomplete etc., this program is useful, because it may be used from within ANY text input window.
Thank You very much and please go on!

However, may I suggest another option, i.e. to make a snippet, i.e. to add preceeding and following text before and after the selected text.
e.g.
\begin{equation}
@@@
\end{equation}

means that I may select a line(s) with an equation, run FlashPaste, and have e.g.
\begin{equation}
e^x=\sum_{k=0}^{infty}\frac{x^k}{k!}
\end{equation}

If nothing is selected, it will be equal to select "null string" and one will have just text.

Despite the AS IS principle, may I hope that such an improvement could be made.

With best wishes and thanks, Ivan

Like Thomas, I too have been asked to check to see if the common.txt file can be stored on a central server, for central control of the strings that our Engineers will be using with their customers.

In other words, is there a way to have flashpaste look to a network share for the common.txt file, as opposed to the applicationdata/flashpaste folder?

Thank you!

For over a decade my livelihood as a transcriptionist has depended upon the ability to type with speed and accuracy. Since last year when carpal tunnel syndrome caused the loss of use of two digits on my left hand my life has been impacted profoundly. Special one-handed keyboards simply aren't an option considering their price (from $500 to $1000) and the fact that they wear out just like all keyboards, even the best, do. I'm hard on keyboards, even without the use of two fingers I've worn out one Compaq and two IBMs this past year at a cost of over $150. I'm always looking for programs now to enable me to maintain my productivity plus extend the life of my keyboards. I can see that FlashPaste is going to be a huge help in both areas.

It may have already been requested but I think it would be great if links pasted into FlashPaste could be made clickable. Also I think Thomas1000's suggestion to implement the use of special characters is very useful. Perhaps a built-in character map (similar to the one that comes with Windows except... better :) I also hope FlashPaste's development will include the ability to access lists/archives through the interface itself instead of through the Windows Explorer.

If FlashPaste only included a keyboard re-mapper ;)

Jus' kiddin'...

Despite all this, thank you for a very useful app. I look very forward to using it. Best of luck to you in all your endeavors.

  Post subject:  Regarding Network-Functions...  Reply with quote
Hi once more...

For me a tool which allows working in a network is a must. We have 5+ People in customer service. They all should use the same phrases provided and managed from a privileged admin. As phrases change frequently copying the data-file all the time is not very funny... .

Maybe I am not the only one with such needs... .

Greetings

Thomas

Hi again!

What I suggested was a way to input text which contains a special char(s) (e.g. @@@). Instead of typing that char the typing stops and an input-box asks the User what to fill in.

When you write a Letter it could be a phrase like
-------------
Hello @@@,

thanks for contacting us. Blah blah blah...
------------
When you use that phrase the user is asked "Replace @@@ with:" and enters "Paul". Then the letter would become:

-------------
Hello Paul,

thanks for contacting us. Blah blah blah...
------------

Even better would be a syntax which allows the admin to define the text of the question like <@ Please enter Name of Customer: @>

Hope I could make my idea clear (sorry: english isn't my native language...).

Greetings from Germany

Thomas

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestions.

The place where the data-File is stored should be in the config. So it can be setup to be used in a network-enviroment.

Do you think this is really needed ? I have some doubt in this. But I will think about this.

Another Idea is an interactive part (a special Char in the text is replaced by user input). Like this

"This ist my phrase. Please reply until <input "Date:"> for further info..."

Sorry, but I have not understand your idea. What do you mean?

Hi there!

I would love to have grouped texts (as suggested before) - preferable as sub-menues.

The place where the data-File is stored should be in the config. So it can be setup to be used in a network-enviroment.

Another Idea is an interactive part (a special Char in the text is replaced by user input). Like this

"This ist my phrase. Please reply until <input "Date:"> for further info..."

Keep up the great work!
